Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) refers to transactions involving the sale, purchase, or combination of companies and businesses — share deals, asset deals, mergers, demergers, joint ventures. Europe is the second-largest M&A market globally, with roughly USD 746 billion of deal value through early December 2025.
