Audit Trail

An audit trail is a tamper-evident record of every user action in a virtual data room: login, document view, download attempt, permission change, Q&A activity. European VDRs typically capture page-level granularity and use cryptographic hashing to make the log tamper-evident.

The audit trail is the centrepiece of the disclosure record after closing and the principal evidence in any post-deal dispute. See audit logs in VDRs.
